Graded Readers

Readers are shelved on level 4 in Te Puna Mātauraka o Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Central Library. All have a "428.6 " shelf location number.  Following on from this 428.6 number, they are arranged by reading level, from Shared to Secondary, mostly following a Colour Wheel system. 'Colour Wheel' readers range from Emergent to Fluency.

Shelf ends have information to help you locate readers. Please ask a librarian if you need help.

Māori Readers

How to find a Māori Language Reader on a particular topic

In the library catalogue do a keyword search using the words 'Māori language readers' and the subject you want to search

for example: Māori language readers friendship

OR

In the library catalogue do a subject begins with search using the words 'Māori language readers' to see the list of subjects we have Māori language readers on.

You can search the Māori Language journals: He Kohikohinga; Te Tautoko and Te Wharekura by typing in the series and a keyword into the TKI search box. Try both Māori and English keywords. Of the three, He Kohikohinga uses the simplest language.

In the Education Library, you will find Māori language readers in the Māori Collection.
