Forestry: Standards

Guide to Forestry at the University of Canterbury

What are standards?

Standards are documented agreements containing technical specifications or other precise criteria to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose.

What standards does the library hold ?

New Zealand Standards and joint Australia/New Zealand standards are available online from the New Zealand Standards database.

Older New Zealand (NZS), and Australia/New Zealand standards (AS/NZS) are also available as print copies and many of these can be found in the library catalogue.

Additionally the library holds many Australian (AS) and British standards (BS).

American ASTM standards are held in the reference collection on level one.

All IEEE standards can be found under the IEEE Xplore database. The Library also holds a collection of various international standards.
