EndNote Guide: Adding references from EndNote to your PowerPoint slides

You will be asked for your UC login.

For PC users:

To install EndNote 20, double click on the EndNote20.exe file downloaded from the above link.  Extract this file file onto your desktop by clicking on the the three ... and selecting your Desktop.  This will create two new files, EN20Inst.msi and License.dat. Double click on EN20Inst.msi to start the install. The license.dat file must be present in the same folder.

Additional Files

The Library provides some modified and additional Filters and Styles.

Note that any zipped files need to be 'unzipped' i.e. right-click and choose the extract command. Copy these files to your EndNote file folder location.

If you just need the APA 7th style, note that this is not 'zipped'. Just save it into your styles folder.

Adding PowerPoint slides

After installing EndNote 20, a new  EndNote 20 tab  will  appear in  PowerPoint 2010 (or later)

You can now add references from your EndNote library to your PowerPoint presentation.

  • Have your EndNote library open
  • Open your PowerPoint presentation and open the EndNote 20 tab
  • Go to EndNote and select the required style
  • Click on a text box within a PowerPoint slide where you wish to add a citation
  • Select the required reference(s) in EndNote and in PowerPoint click EndNote 20 - Insert Selected Citation(s) to insert citation(s) on slides as required.


To add complete references to the last slide

  •  Select the last slide in your presentation
  •  Select the required reference(s) in EndNote and click Insert Selected Reference(s) on the PowerPoint ribbon
