Using Collections in the Library

You will be asked to use the secure reading room in Macmillan Brown Library. The secure reading room is a space where you can consult special collections and archival materials under conditions that will protect these materials from harm. Please note the following:

  • All personal belongings including coats, bags, and water bottles must be left in the storage lockers provided.
  • Pens are not permitted in the reading room.  You can use your laptop in the room, but the laptop bag must be left in your storage locker.
  • Please handle all material used in the secure reading room with care. Staff will instruct you if special handling requirements (such as gloves) are required.
  • Taking images of material is subject to approval by the Macmillan Brown Library. See our page on requesting copies
