Te Rua Makerspace: Direct to garment printer

Te Rua has 1x DTG printer that can be used for quickly and easily printing directly onto garments.

You will need to provide any garments/textiles you are wanting to print on.

Note: To finish your job and 'set' the ink into your garment, use of our heat press is also required.

Introduction to DTG printing

Our Direct to Garment (DTG) printer is an extremely simple, fast and fun device for printing custom designs onto your own t-shirt, hoodie or tote bag.

The Ricoh Ri100 operates by spraying CMYK ink onto the fibres of your chosen garment and takes only a minute or two to complete!

PLEASE NOTE:

  •  It is preferable that your garment be white or a very light tone material. Full colour designs will not reproduce correctly otherwise.
  • Please wash your garment before printing. This is to best prepare the surface for printing. It also lessens the chance of sweat/liquid stains being burnt into the garment during the heat-setting process.

Get inducted!

This is an ORANGE tiered machine so requires a Te Rua Makerspace induction to operate independently.

Follow the steps below to gain access.

Please note:

  • The quiz will cover information shown in the induction video so make sure you watch properly.
  • If you are unable to attend the specific induction times available, either make an appointment with Te Rua staff or email to organise another time.
