Berit Anderson

Berit is a Team Leader with Ngā Ratonga Manaaki Rangahau | Research Services (UOA). She has a Master of Information Studies from VUW and has previously worked in public libraries, learning design, educational publishing, bookshops and summer camps. When she’s not librarianing, you can find her photographing moss & mushrooms in the bush or reading & art journalling with her two young daughters.

Dr Janette Hamilton-Pearce

Dr Janette Hamilton-Pearce is a descendant of Te Whānau a Apanui and is the Chief of Staff at Local Contexts. Her background is over 21 years as an academic in Information Systems for Indigenous communities. Janette obtained her doctorate from the School of Computing and Mathematical Science, AUT in 2010. In 2021, Janette started working for Local Contexts through the Te Kotahi Research Institute, Waikato University and New York University. She is passionate about ‘Tagging the World with Traditional Knowledge (TK) and Biocultural (BC) Labels through Local Contexts'.

Ashley Rojas

Ashley Rojas is a Software/Web Developer focusing on API implementation of the Hub’s Labels and Notices into other digital infrastructures and managing the Local Contexts website. Ashley is originally from Lenapehoking (New York City) and currently working and living on Wappinger homelands. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Classics & Classical Archaeology and her Master’s degree in Digital Humanities. Her interests lie in bringing technology to the forefront of learning, and her work has been focused on museums and archaeology. After the shift to at-home work during the pandemic, Ashley is now also interested in digital learning without set spaces. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, playing video games, and coding.

Using data to make better decisions drives Kyle. A former marine ecologist, he has spent the last 9 years working with governments and universities on developing and implementing data-driven research strategies. As COO of OurResearch, he is developing OpenAlex to help the world transition from closed proprietary systems to completely open data sources for high-quality research analytics. His spare time is split between his communities and the shorelines and mountains near Vancouver.

Kiera Tauro

Kiera is one of the Education Subject Librarians at the University of Canterbury. She’s interested in academic publishing, scholarly impact and the ways that open access can improve access to research.
